Cliff Jumping, Camembert, and Cote d'Azur

Whaddup!

So, here are our highlights of our adventures to and in Nice:

1. The hostel was bomb - La Saint Expuery (if you ever go, definitely stay there!) Great atmosphere, great people, great food, and 4 euro bottles of wine! Hollaaaa. Becca and I met a lot of Candians, who kept making cracks about Americans which was pretty funny (including the guy wearing his NY t-shirt and Yankees cap.)

2. Eze Village - our first stop in the morning - cool little village that's really old (wow, Europe, shocking). Up on the hills in Nice so you get great views of the entire city and coast. We decided to buy delicious chocolate croissants and a baguette with camembert cheese since we were in France. It was amazing. I talked about it the entire time we got to France, and I finally got to eat. Reminded me so much of being in Paris. And I got to speak french. Greatness.

3. Monaco/Monte Carlo - Monaco is SIIIICK! Amazingly beautiful, pretty much like Stanford - the Monaco bubble, for the rich and famous, where they have champagne wishes and caviar dreams. Went and saw the Monte Carlo. We all gambled about $1,000 and Rebeca is now under $15,000, Becca is up $2000, and I am up $10,000. Clearly, you don't belive. And you shouldn't. Duh. It was an awesome casino and its right on the water, and we couldn't even go in because it didn't open till 2, and we really just wanted to get to a beach.

4. Cap D'Ail - BEST PART OF NICE! Took a bus from Monaco to get to Cap D'Ail, the bus driver didn't let us know we were supposed to get off, went too far, then we stood in the middle of nowhere to catch a bus the other way. Finally got one, found new friends on their way to the beach (who actually were staying in our room at our hostel!). The Mediterannean Sea felt AMAZING. The water is clear, and warm, and it was just great. Warning: mainly to Parents: do not read below if you are concerned about our safety:

Our new friends decided to convince us to go CLIFF JUMPING. All of us were a little hesitant, but realized when else would we be cliff jumping in the French Riviera. So we did it. And it was BALLER! We have videos and pictures we will show you all. It was awesome. After jumping in, we chilled on some random dude's boat (who was not there or in sight) and just cheered everyone on. Apparently, cheering is not acceptable in the French Riviera. FUNNY STORY: We kept cheering everyone on, and some other French dude in his boat close to us (who we had just seen snorkeling NAKED) stood up and started yelling at us in French about how rude and disrespectful we were and they were trying to sleep. Then in English, "Go back to your country!" We all just started laughing hysterically as he started his boat and raced to the other side of the beach. Fantastic.

Walking back to get to the bus, I realized I didn't have my shirt. Then had to walk around Nice without a shirt (including on the tram) and looked like a giant American tool. At least Nice likes topless people.

By this time, after less than 24 hours in Nice, we were very familiar with the tram (kinda like the Muni), which got us to and from our hostel, and to the bus and train stations. Just like many public transportation systems, the tram had a way of warning passengers that the doors were closing. Only this one sounded like the hook of ("Move Bitch, get out the way") . . . or maybe it was "Jumpin' Jumpin," we haven't quite decided.

So, we made it to the RIGHT train station at the RIGHT time on the RIGHT day, and Rebeca will continue with adventures to Italy!
